About The Company
Hello! We’re Preston & Sarah Lowder – both Shreveport, Louisiana natives. We originally met as childhood friends through church choir at First Presbyterian Church – but didn’t “meet again” until we found ourselves at Mardi Gras 2009 next to the duck pond on the parade route. We learned early on that we both shared a love for great food and great music. Less than a year later we were engaged, and then married in December 2010. We now have three young children.
We began Lowder King Cakes by sharing our small batches of king cakes and cookies with family and friends. Before we knew it, we grew out of our home kitchen often selling out days in advance from pre-orders.
We have a true love for bread and the bread making process.
We’ve developed each of our recipes over the last decade. Every product from our kitchen is made from scratch, every single day. We believe in using the highest quality ingredients possible – we only use unbleached, unbromated flour – no preservatives, no shortcuts. Realizing that we have very limited options for fresh baked breads in our area, we started dreaming and having conversations about opening a bakery – but a different type bakery – one that revolves around fresh baked breads. Our big dream seemed out of reach and the timing was never quite right. But we kept our idea brewing…
After a very successful Mardi Gras season in 2018 for Lowder King Cakes, the pieces started to fall into place. We decided it was time to take the leap and expand Lowder King Cakes to become Lowder Baking Company – we would offer local, fresh baked goods using simple, high quality ingredients. Over the next year, we devoted ourselves into making this dream a reality.
In November 2018, we officially announced that Lowder Baking Company is opening a brand new storefront! (Yay!) Our location at 4019 Fern Ave (Shoppes at Madison Park) is set to open in early January 2019. Our first brick and mortar location will function both as a commercial kitchen and a storefront bakery in the South Highlands neighborhood. We will kick off in early January through Mardi Gras Day serving Lowder King Cakes (available for online ordering, store pickup, or shipped directly!) In March 2019, we will transition to offer a variety of fresh baked breads, cookies, cookie cakes, seasonal bread specialties, and weekly specials all year long. Our fresh baked breads will be available for wholesale direct to local restaurants and caterers, and retail for customers to purchase daily.
We’re thrilled to set out on this new adventure with Lowder Baking Company and our storefront located in the South Highlands neighborhood. We hope you will make frequent visits with us at Lowder Baking Company this coming year!
